Magnetic-Gravity Gradient Inversion for Underwater Object Detection

چکیده
A new underwater object detection method based on joint GravityGradient and Magnetic-Gradient Inversion algorithms is proposed in this paper. Magnetic gradient and gravity gradient anomalies induced by an underwater object can be measured and inversed to estimate the relative changes in distance between underwater object and underwater vehicle. The weight least squares estimation is introduced to combine equations of magnetic gradient and gravity gradient inversion. Therefore, the joint inversion method gets an optimal relative position of underwater object using two kinds of data. Simulation results show that the proposed method is more efficient than the previous Joint gravity – gradient tensor inversion and magnetic gradient tensor inversion respectively.

Large-scale 3D inversion of potential field data
Inversion of gravity and/or magnetic data attempts to recover the density and/or magnetic susceptibility distribution in a 3D earth model for subsequent geological interpretation. This is a challenging problem for a number of reasons. First, airborne gravity and magnetic surveys are characterized by very large data volumes. Second, the 3D modelling of data from large-scale surveys is a computat...
متن کاملDetection and classification of underwater targets by magnetic gradiometry
SHORT ABSTRACT: This paper describes the theoretical analysis of a method to detect and classify objects from magnetic maps. The method, originally designed to detect buried UXO by land survey with a magnetometer, is adapted here for underwater survey with a gradiometer. Evaluation is performed on simulated data in order to predict the performance of the adapted algorithm to this new situation....

متن کاملMagnetic susceptibility as a tool for mineral exploration (Case study: Southern of Zagros Mountains)
Magnetic susceptibility has been extensively used to determine the magnetic properties of rocks for different applications, such as hydrocarbon or mineral explorations. This magnetic quantity can be directly measured in an accurate but time-consuming operation, or it can be mathematically approximated using a reliable procedure to achieve a desired accuracy. The Poisson theory is one of the mos...
متن کاملComparison of derivative-based methods by normalized standard deviation approach for edge detection of gravity anomalies
This paper describes the application of the so-called normalized standard deviation (NSTD) method to detect edges of gravity anomalies. Using derivative-based methods enhances the anomaly edges, leading to significant improvement of the interpretation of the geological features. There are many methods for enhancing the edges, most of which are high-pass filters based on the horizontal or vertic...
